Yeah that one is a looker for sure Ben, really the prettiest model year to emulate.

I know you've got your rims/tires planned out, but if there was a way to use those gorgeous Kelsey-Hayes rims on an HHR....Wow!

There's just something about honest to goodness chrome K-H wire rims on the right car that pushes my "Drool" button.

Thats a good metaphor, "Drool Button" definitely goin to barrow that!

Benjiwah- I might have missed it in the thread but, after you worked your foam did you fiber-glass it? What did you do to make it stand up to the elements? Just dont imagine that the foam is very durable.

~curiosity might have killed the cat, but for the curious dog watching the cat he learned not to sleep under the car

PaperChaseHHR, I am fiberglassing over the foam. You are correct in thinking that the foam would not hold up to the elements. If you work on a project of your own here are some tips that will save you some trouble... Believe me, I have had to redo things from learning the hard way.
1st, always let your foam cure for 24 hours before carving it.
2nd, don't carve away too much at a time, because once it's gone you have to refoam it which means more waiting on the foam to cure.
3rd, block sand the foam to refine your shape and remember to make forms slightly thinner than you want the finished form to be. Remember that the layers of fiberglass will fatten up your project.
4th, after getting the desired shape in foam, walk away and let the foam rest for another day at the very least. Although the foam will be very dry feeling and easy to carve, it has NOT set up long enough. If you try to fiberglass foam that has only cured for the initial 24 hours, it will warp under the heat of the fiberglass resin.
The outer shell of the sprayed foam is smooth and has closed pores. Removing the smooth outer layer exposes the porous interior that will allow the inside to cure fully.

Don't antagonize The Grinch......

"He took the Whos' feast, he took the who pudding, he took the roast beast. He cleaned out that ice box as quick as a flash. Why, the Grinch even took their last can of Who hash. Then he grabbed CA Blue's HHR and made a big crash, as he fled like a madman with his pilfered Who stash!"
