Took it to my trustworthy shop to check freon and trouble shoot.
Freon was empty but nothing wrong within the system to cause that??.
good news is we have ice cold AC and can control it. FINALLY
Any ideas how that can be possible?
It was ice cold prior to the fan motor issue ? ?
Thanks for all your help donbrew

You probably know, the refrigerant can't just vanish for no reason. If it had no refrigerant in it, then there is a leak somewhere, and if no leak repair was done, it will soon be empty again.

It went somewhere, no place to hide in the AC system.

Yeah. Sounds like someone "leaned" too hard on an AC line when working on the fan. Better find the leak source or it will leak out again.

I expect it to be empty this morning.
They put dye in it and tested it for an hour. I drove it around for about 3 hours.
The only work I did under the hood was the butyl patch repair and testing fuses. Nothing near the Compressor or lines.
Nothing makes sense but I still love learning about cars.
Thanks again guys.
I'll let you know how this ends

AC lines run just to the right of the under hood fuse box, looking in from the radiator.
