Problems/Service/RepairsIf you have a problem with your HHR, want a tip on repairing or performing a particular service to you HHR here is the place to post!
Nope. That's not the way the system works. The stock speakers can go out one at a time. There is nothing that will "shut them all down" unless you have a problem with the radio itself.
they're all off, so how can I tell if it's the speakers or the radio itself?
It is possible if one actually shorts that the system will shut them down, But that rarely happens they just all die. The fact that the tweeters do work means that a shutdown is NOT the problem., just bad speakers.
oh brother, if that means all the speakers are bad that could cost a fortune to replace unless......I hit a junk yard, what do you think?
The tweeters are wired in parrallel with the front door speakers, so if they are working and the door speakers are not the speakers are bad.
Why not go to Walmart/Autozone/advance/pepboys/ebay/crutchfield/bestbuy and get some speakers? Depending on your ear $10-$200 each. If you have a screwdriver and a putty knife you can do it. Lots of info at crutchfield.com and here in our how-to and AV sections.
Check at your local parts palace, and check for loose harness at all four wheel hubs.

I found out it's the amp that's bad on my stereo system.
[QUOTE=donbrew;851325]Then how do the tweeters work?; they are wired directly to the front door speakers, not a separate wire from the amp. Damn, now I'm even more confused, wish you wete in the neighborhood!
I think speakers are your problem, and possibly the amp, but speakers are the most common culprit
I'm going back to my thoughts from the beginning,, we've had problems with the driver's side door. Awhile ago it wouldn't open from the outside, it was fixed. Of course the panel was removed to do that. Days later the inside handle busted off, it's due to be replaced but in the meantime we have to open it from the outside. I really think the problem is in that door, whether it be the speaker or what, I think the problem is there. We have someone coming this week to check it out. Hopefully we'll get to the bottom of that. Going in the shop tomorrow to find out what's wrong with the ABS.
