I don't know how it could just up and crack. Either somebody did it or it is easy enough to get to it could have been by accident.
We have members in Alaska that have not had that problem. I know it doesn't freeze that bad at Va beach.

Hmm. Going back to the start of the thread I see where the car was at the dealer a couple times to have the drain unclogged. I wonder if some well-meaning tech was trying to "loosen" up the clog by "tapping" on the drain pan with a hammer ?
Or, could have been the previous owner doing the same thing.
Either way, I can see this as a possible scenario of how the pan could get cracked.
