Alright. I may just bite the bullet and pay the $250 for my warranty plan and let the shop figure it out. Sounds like more trouble than I want to deal with myself.

Follow-up

A follow-up to my previous posts. I ended up taking the car in and had it checked out by the local dealership. Turns out the PCM was bad (TCM ended up being bad too). Both were warranty replaced and the car has been running fine (as far as the P0327 code is concerned). Unfortunately today the check engine light came on with the same P0327 code.

Any validity to possible bad gas to trip this code? I did just fuel up at a new station that I have not previously used before. *fingers crossed*

After several replaced Knock Sensors I am going with this as my next attempt at fixing the never ending - "Check Engine" light:

Thoughts?

What is the code you are getting? It's hard to second guess what you are referring to without the code.

Check Engine Light

2011 HHR LT 2.2 (less 30k miles).

I tried to fix the (Check Engine Light)
- I tested the fuses under the hood and the interior fuse box.. they are OK.
- I disconnected the negative battery cable for 1 hour. CEL not go!

Reader come up with this code:
P0030 & P0053

when I look for the o2 sensors replacement, I fund that they come as upstream and downstream sensors.

Can I use the same sensor for both location or they are different?

The quick answer is no, there are different part numbers for the O2 sensors.

The upstream sensor(position #1) is GM part number 12611127

The downstream sensor(position #2) is GM part number 12578576

Not sure of the differences in specification between the two part numbers, but it's not a good idea to experiment with a substitution when chasing down a problem.

Khalifa, before you start throwing parts at it, make sure you don't have any exhaust leaks. Gaskets and flex pipe. Then check the wires going to the HO2 Sensors, make sure none of them got too close to the hot pipe and melted.

Bank 1 is the one closest to the engine. (upstream).

NOT!!! Picked up the car at 5:30 this afternoon after 2 weeks back and forth to the shop and guess what...2 hours later the light is back on! Took it by advanced auto and they ran the code and again it is the knock sensor code--they cleared the light and it came right back on! I am so fed up with this piece of crap car! Does anyone know what else could be going on or have any suggestions (besides getting a new mechanic--I am already working on that one!). Thanks for any help!!!

On my 06 HHR mechanics couldn't find the problem but it ended up just being the wire plug for my radiator fan it triggers the same code. Hope that helps.

The question was asked in 2010, I doubt they need help anymore.

I know of no connection between the cooling fan and the knock sensor. Maybe, if either of you had supplied a DTC we could figure something out.
