The smaller connector on the fuel pump connects to the black line that goes to the fuel tank pressure valve

My guess is the fuel line is cracked at the pump or the nipple is cracked.

i hope it's not the fuel pump nib/nipple that is cracked since i only just replaced that 2 years ago.

After thinking a bit i remembered i was driving down a neighborhood that has dirt roads instead of asphalt for some reason and one section was incredibly bad - like 'test drive your jeep or land rover on this offroad mountain course' bad. i slowed down asap but not before i got jostled and bounced a few times - so bad i thought i might've messed up the front suspension.

I don't think the tank came into contact with a high spot on the ground but maybe just the shock to the car was enough to crack the fuel line connection to where a few weeks later just from daily vibrations it got to the point where it got to it's current state of fukkedupness.

these clearly aren't meant to be off road vehicles.

When i get a replacement line I'll have to inspect the fuel pump side carefully to see if it has a hairline crack ... hopefully it doesn't.

I can see fuel leaking out of the pressure line at the splice . You can see the splice by the filler opening in your photo
There to the upper left of the black square

Not quite sure which part u mean but for sure it is coming off the pump area. I figure when i get to a yard with a donor i will just take all the lines off the donor car tank and swap out - assuming one of the hhrs i find is a bit better condition -
