I moved this to the problems and repair section.
From all that I have read it seem you going in the right direction.
You can look at the injector color and see if they have been changed already.
The updated injectors have a blue top. It is alway possible that someone changed the injectors but did not reflash the engine controller.

 

Thank you. I'm going to pull it apart sometime over the next couple of days. Since I cannot find a thread on this, I'll document, take photos and post some pics. Hopefully some good will come of this.
