Kind Of Emergency
This is the second report this month that the key won't unlock with a dead battery. Maybe it is part of the ant-theft, in that case there should be an over ride secret.
The other one claimed he couldn't even pull the plunger up.
He said roadside was on the way, yesterday.

Perhaps the ignition switch was previously replaced, possibly with a used part, and the ignition key is different from the door key. Or something has come loose inside the door. Or the door lock cylinder is corroded or otherwise frozen up.
A lot of people got all excited when the key recall was announced and pressured dealers into switching parts before the replacement parts were available. Some dealers are/were clueless and just used the old part numbers. A lot of people took it upon themselves to change the ignition with off the shelf parts, ignoring the door lock.
It was supposed to be parts ordered to the VIN. If something had been done previously the keys won't match. Like a junkyard door or replaced ignition.
