Yeah, but I still found it interesting. I don't mind knowing about alternatives.

Also, with no downstream fuel filter, the older the car gets, the more trouble tiny orifices will cause. I imagine GM had their reasons for switching.

I want to add a fuel filter under the hood.

this week i am planning on doing the fuel pump, evap vent valve, etc and have had a chance to drive the car a bit - maybe 150-200 miles. so the p0300 code never came up again, P0135 went away.
Still have P0134 as confirmed and now also P0132 confirmed.

Could the new NTK O2 sensor be defective? without buying another, what can i do to test it besides having switched it with the old upline one that is still hanging out - which when i did that before, the car basically started running like poo until i switched it back to the new one.

donbrew mentioned to check the ECM connector(s)? is that the big connectors in front of the fuse box? it looks like there are 3 of them?

There are 2 modules under the plastic hood in front of the fuse box. The smaller one is the TCM the larger one is the ECM.

Those 2 codes are electrical problems with the #1 O2 sensor.
P0132 is the output is too high.
P0134 is it is not changing.

I would carefully inspect the wires from the #1 O2 sensor. Could be wrong part or defective part.

I seem to remember this car ha the down pipe replaced and the old O2 sensor was on the manifold. Did you completely remove the old #1 O2 sensor and plug the bung?
The best think would be to plug the new bung and put a new sensor in the old bung. I am not sure if the calibration is the same. That might be why the sensor is misbehaving.

Update
donbrew - yes - old sensor is still in original position as i haven't had a chance to buy a different type of socket that will fit.
Also i changed out the apparently defective NTK upline o2 sensor for some cheap brand off amz. This caused the p0132 and p0134 codes to go away.

april 3
I changed the fuel pump to a delphi brand pump - cleaned the gas tank - there was a LOT of charcoal bits in there
I also changed the evap canister and evap valve/solenoid parts - expensive but very easy to change
at this time i had confirmed 0134 and 0135 codes

i expected changing the evap parts would solve the problem of the pump shutting off every 1/2 gallon when filling up with gas. The first time or two, it was still doing it, but allowing 1.5 gallons or so before shutting off each time.
3rd fill up it finally stopped doing that and behaved normally - finally!

april 5 0132 code comes back too

april 16 p0442 code makes brief appearance

around this time i also noticed an annoying high pitched noise coming from the general area around the gas tank - see recording - thought maybe the delphi pump was a pos...a few weeks later after a 2nd or 3rd fill up since changing the parts the sound nearly went away after filling up and as of may, it's definitely quiet down there.

april 17
cleared codes after installing replacement upline o2 sensor...
now back to starting board as p0420 code comes back!

april 26 p0455 code also joins in with po420 code - - before it happened i had a 'check gas cap' msg come up the day before - rechecked cap - all good

so i am really frustrated at this point. what do we suppose has happened? is the new cat now ruined too? was driving 400-500 miles with a defective upline o2 sensor the cause or just ONE possible cause?
what's up with the EVAP errors now that have showed up after1000 miles of driving since all these repairs? the evap box and other smaller part seemed pretty basic with only a few easy hose connections.

if i didn't need the vehicle so much i'd be tempted to take it out back and put it down like a lame horse.

this was some of the charcoal in the gastank from the old evap can before i thorougly cleaned it out

and here's video of the fuel pump sound that came and went away

P0420 means the cat is not functioning.
Carbon balls in the tank mean clogged fuel pump which means low fuel pressure

I don't know what you have and don't plan on reading all this to figure it out. If that helps.
