Power Steering Problem

Power Steering Problem
I have a 2006 HHR 5 speed manual. About a month or two ago, my power steering would randomly go out while I was driving. If I turned the key off and back on it would start working again for a bit.
Over the last few months its gotten worse, and the period between working and dying has become shorter and shorter.
Searching this site, it looks like it's a known problem. How expensive is the solution? It seems like I just need to replace the power steering pump correct? Is that something the average person can do? If not, how much should I expect to pay at a shop?

Yup, your power steering motor is packing it in, pretty much a textbook failure. Give the following thread a read....

Just as an FYI, HHR's use what's called EPS(Electronic Power Steering), no pump, no hoses, just an electric motor providing the steering assistance.
