Power window stuck open

Hi I lowered my front passenger power window and it wouldn't go back up. all others work so it isn't the fuse. Opened up the panel and was able to pull a cable out that looks like it went to the upper rear part of the window mechanism. I can see there are four of them that go to each corner of the window. The cable has a knurled end that fits into something but I can't see it or get my fingers into the area to see where it came out off. Is it possible that it just came apart or is it just broken and in need of replacement? can I remove more parts so that I can get my hands in there? The motor whirls as though it's working ok and I can't see any broken pieces laying inside the door anywhere. Should I just take this to a real mechanic? Am I over my head. I'm not a mechanic by trade.

Thanks,
Robert

I haven't worked on the HHR mechanism myself, but did you try a Google search ?
I did and it does shows a few pictures.

In most cases when the cable comes out of place it's because a plastic guide somewhere has broke allowing the cable to jump out of its track.

The motor then twists up the cable in nots. I would recommend replacing the complete window lift assembly.

Ok great thanks. After looking inside it looks pretty hopeless. Going to have to replace the whole mess. I didn't pull the regulator lift assembly out yet but I watched a video online and it looks pretty easy. Now I need to find a good price for one. May have to just tape the window up until I can order one. Tomorrow's agenda.

NAPA carries many window regulators and lifts. Also try eBay.

Part came today. Was a simple matter of replacing the power window regulator lift assembly. Really simple bolt on part. Cost was $86.97 total. I was worried I'd have to pay someone a lot more than that to do it for me. I wish all our problems could have as simple a fix as this one.

Glad it is fixed and you get to feel the pride of doing it yourself, contrary to popular believe these little truck lets are easy to work on for the most part!
