Thanks for the info, I have to change my thermostat and I was going to just pull the bottom hose off. Boy I wish I could get a service manual without pay over 100 dollars for it. But It it probably be worth it. Thanks again for your information.

Also, if you don't buy a pre-mix 50/50 engine coolant do not use tap water as your 50/50. Use Distilled water. Tap water can have deteriorating effects with the different metals it will be in contact with. Same goes for flushing the system. Use Distilled water.

Go to Haynes for a HHR service manual under $25.00. http://www.haynes.com/products/?sear...l=HHR&x=10&y=4

There is no problem using tap water, unless there is a known problem with your tap water. Use distilled water if it makes you feel better............... Distilled can't hurt, but isn't absolutely necessary in most cases especially if one follows the recommended flush/fill schedules.

I agree whopper.
Plus. Do you actually think that "all" the antifreeze manufacturers only use distilled water in their mixing/dilution process? I doubt it.

That's a good point. I have always used tap water. All the dealers that I have worked for never had distilled, cooling systems were always mixed and topped off with tap water

I see nothing wrong with adding a few small comments to a 4 year old thread that a new member dug up.

At least he is using the search bar.

We have added two pages so far to a 4 year old thread that is still on the subject of introduction.

And it morphed from a question about the drain plug on the radiator into a discussion about distilled vrs tap water - which is semi-related, sort of.

But good point about the usage of the search tool/bar.

anyways, gonna close this before it morphs into a discussion about the availability of a lock for the glove box.

- Closed!!!
