Surges around the 40mph mark
I would be happy to reach out to your local Chevrolet dealership for you in order to obtain that information. If you would like me to do this feel free to PM me your zip code.

My personal Chevy Store here in Carolina charges $150 to properly service a transmission.
That means draining the old fluid, replacing the filter and pan gasket, then refilling with the proper DEXRON VI fluid.

Drove my sons 07 hhr last night and it shifts so good and consistant, mine shifts good and fairly consistant other than the OD hunting. Could the difference be his is 2.2 motor..did they do anything different with the tranny?
Take it to transmission shop to have it diagnosed, unless you are still under 5/100,000. Most trans shops drive it for free. People 1000 miles away are useless.
Could just need an ATF flush, but could need a new internal solenoid (which would require new ATF). When and where and how many times do you want to spend your money? A professional with his hands on the car is better able to diagnose, but get a couple of opinions.

When I signed up on this forum in 2010 I think, I had an 08 2LT and had forgotten that it started doing the same thing as my current 08. I give the dealership a call that worked on it and talked to the mechanic that worked on it "trans specialist" I trust this guy he has worked on my truck before too. He told me he replaced the TCM in my other and I'm sure that's what this is now BUT,, if I replace it myself I still will have to have it reprogrammed. So it probably won't save me much trying to do it myself unless someone knows a way around this.
I will say my 2011 shifts differently than the old 2008 did, much less responsive. the 2008 had no VVT, or maybe just a different AlGoreithm in the shifting computer.
At cruising speed the 2011 will accel nicely with a small nudge on the pedal, but bog down with a large nudge. In stop&go the I position keeps me competitive, D keeps me 10 lengths back.
definition of stop&go : STOP for 2 minutes GO to 70MPH slam on brakes to STOP for another 2 minutes, repeat for 3 hours to go 45 miles.
