Yeah radiator for sure is my guess… the thermostat was failed when the boil water plop test did just gotta Camry with same thing it seems to be the main issue with Facebook cars, radiator or time chain, though was doing this thing on the highway started bucking with loss of compression the HHR so the first place as beginner mechanic was the major issues for loss of compression though should have known from the way the engine was freaking out that it was pressure build yet had no overheating warning so failed sensor yet no show on the code pull? IDK…

yeah was the bell thought it was the axles needing to be pulled cause they attach different then typical? got it off the flywheel with the four bolts! Took everything apart hit it with Dawn Platinum Spray which works great and piece by piece in the dishwasher so can give it a ceramic paint(maybe) and work on getting it back in with new lines and wiring and piston and etc !

My copy of the pic may be a little blurry so also look at the OP's original above.

Dude don’t ask 😆 it looks prettier now though for sure
clean and stored waiting to run through the transmission maybe slap it into a buggy frame IDK cool engine and transmission for sure. Though yeah was doing everything wrong cause broke down and attempted to do this @&$! Like 3 blocks from home in freezing weather in parking lot for sure had its effect on outcome.

I thought I could separate transmission to unbolt it for a minute as it was actually pinching as so the stress from uneven floor engine lift not allowing crank to rotate and get at the bolts.

And so are you fixing the HHR? Replacing the engine? Rebuilding it or selling it?

If there was NO cooling, as in full blockage the engine would only ryn for about 20 minutes before it seized. First, all of the oil would burn off then the bearings and pistons melt. It is not air cooled.
That is why I call B.S.
