water leak

Found a water leak on driver side of 2009 SS. Couldn't figue it out until a drive through car wash. In the car wash the water literally pours out from the hood release handle. Does anone have any ideas or a fix. Thanks

Several places it can come in, do you have a sunroof? That's one, there is a drain tube that comes down through the A pillar that can become disconnected.

Also there is a rubber boot between the door and the door frame. This would be your most likely cause.

There have been a few that were missing some calking around the windshield area, but this is more rare.

marylandmike,

I would take your vehicle into the dealer to have this checked out. If you are under warranty then they should be able to do something. Let us know what you find out, Thank you!

Took the HHR to Criswell Chevrolet in Gaithersburg, MD. Turned out the leak was coming from the windshield. It also turned out not to be the original window, even though the car had a clean Carfax report. The dealer still covered the repair 100%. They restored my faith in humanity.

Something like a windshield replacement might not show on a CarFax report, it would depend on whether it was paid out of pocket or handled through an insurance claim. Glad they found the problem though, chasing water leaks is no fun.
