I see you didn’t time the crankshaft and camshafts, so to avoid bending any valves , remove the camshafts, keep the parts and bolts in order, the rotate the crankshaft until the #1 piston is at TDC , the keyway will be at 12:00 o’clock and the dot on the sprocket will be at 5:00 o’clock.

putting it back together is the same as this 2.4 , reuse your crankshaft sprockets , they are different in the 2.0

I've got the 4 bolts on the water pump off but can not remove it. Its been leaking a lot so there is no coolant in it anyway. I just don't know how to get to the thermostat to allow me to remove the water pump.

as far as the bolt, which one are you referring to?

the video i watched said to put the camshaft sprockets at 10 o'clock and 2 oclock. And the crankshaft keyway at 12 o'clock. So that's where they are at. Is this not correct?I did this before removing the chains. I have not touched the other sprockets that require a punch or drill bit to lock in, as I didn't see a need for that.

The camshafts are correct to the crankshaft, post a photo to confirm.

The thermostat housing is behind the engine, on the driver’s side, three 10mm head bolts, the centre one is blocked by the CTS .

This photo shows the 3 bolt holes and the CTS threaded hole location. A 19 mm deep socket and 3/8 ratchet works good to remove or replace the sensor.

Sometimes the hoses are kind of welded to the pipes, there's so much heat in that area.

Here's a pic I took before removing the chain and camshaft vvt spockets.

should clearly show the 10 and 2 positions. I then verified the crankshaft key was at 12 I clock before taking stuff off.

and the bottom picture shows the 2 marks with the arrow between them.

I forgot which one goes to which side though. But I'm pretty sure the protruding cylinder "key" will only go in one way for each side?

Oh and the big sprocket on the crankshaft has 2 dots...one at 12 one at 6...
