That is more of a sealant as this goes where there’s oil running in the chain cavity

Hmm should I worry about it for the rest of the bolts?

local dealership doesn't have it but the one in the city im working in right now has one. So I will grab it before heading home and I can finish the chains today!

Dealership ? For an aftermarket bolt, or you mean the lower bolt of the front guide.

The stock one lol
Although I think I'm missing one or misplaced it. Supposed to have 3...for the timing chain guides right?

In the timing chain front guide there’s 2 black shouldered bolts torque to 106 inch lbs, but you are replacing one in the top with the larger bolt that is torqued to 66 ft lbs the tensioner guide gets a straight bolt also torqued to 89 iinch lbs

Well apparently I've misplaced a bolt then because I did not put it with the timing/balance stuff.

did some cleaning on the valve stuff today. I noticed its not actually hard but more of a tar-like material that quickly turns into mush when I squeeze it. Pulled the oil filter off too.

Can you say, neglected oil and filter changes?

read page 11 of the DDM build guide.

perhaps you mixed up a bolt with the balance shaft guides.

If you had to guess, how many miles are on this filter?

#18 says to use 3 10mm head bolts the tensioner and tensioner guide (balance chain) so that's the only non-shoulder bolts I have used so far.

Also might be a stupid question but do I really have to rotate the crank to 3 oclock? I made sure to set the crank key and the vvt sprocket keys as suggested.
