False alarm. I guess it's triggered in an odd way or I'm just dumb. I managed to install it while activated. Does this look correct? Or does it need to rotate and sit in grooves? Have I done damage to it by installing while activated?
I got everything done up to the timing cover gasket.
I want to drop the oil pan and check the filter/screen/oil pick up tube. Any thoughts on this? Necessary, unnecessary?
Also here is the old oil spout thing lol. Would this cause any harm?
The spacers are for the crankshaft sprocket , only the 2.0 has those , you reuse the OEM sprocket.
install the oil spigot it’s a new improved style.
the tensioner screws in and you torque it to 55 ft lbs then activate it as shown on page 12 section 7 of the DDM assembly guide.
that is the 3 bolts for the timing chain guides 2 shoulder bolts for the front guide , 1 bolt for the tensioner guide.
have you installed the replacement front guide upper bolt?
I would drop the oil pan and clean it out, use black or grey RTV sealant can’t hurt with the condition the oil filter was in , it’s probably very dirty
Well I guess I messed up because I activated the tensioner prior to installation. I thought it was broken because it didn't have any pressure to it...is it going to mess anything up by installing it while activated? I posted a pic of it hitting the guide.
I have installed the upgraded upper bolt which replaces the shoulder bolt and cover.
The photos of the tensioner look good.
did you put those spacers back behind the crankshaft sprocket?
thanks for confirming you installed the front guide upper bolt
I looked at the marks on the thin spacers and realized they were from the harmonic balancer and needed to go outside of the small sprocket. So that's where they are.
Here is a picture of the upgraded upper bolt for that tensioner.
going to bolt the timing cover on, bolt in the last waterpump bolt and put some coolant in it and see what happens!
when dropping the oil pan, does it need to be in a certain sequence?
I cant see how installing it activated would do any harm. It's going to be extended when activated inside anyway???
