Ended up grabbing a new one at AutoZone for $15. Also grabbed a set of spark plugs.

Alright got it running...started and idled great. Noticed it got up to about 107°F as it sounded as if the pistons were about to sieze so I shut it off. Some light smoke coming from oil spout on the valve cover. Checked the oil with the dipstick and its bone dry. I just put 5 quarts in it...Im guessing something is plugged in the engine relating to the oil.

Did you clean the oil pan? Clean the oil pump in the front cover? Any oil puddles under the car?
Did you burp the coolant?

“sounded as if the pistons were about to seize”

??? Not even sure what that means. I’ve been turning wrenches on cars for almost 50 years. Never heard anyone say that before.

The motor sounded like it was slowing down and the pitch of the engine was getting lower as well...as if the pistons weren't being lubricated anymore.

When you put the 5 quarts in, did it measure full on the dipstick then?

You had the water pump out, so cooling system was drained, when you refilled the coolant, was there a leak? Anywhere?

That much crude in there will plug up oil passages and galley's. Next will be oil pump then rod and main bearing failure. And I'll bet the turbo is on it's last leg if not shot.
Way back in this thread, here was my opinion in post #50. Sadly, it seems to be right.
