QUOTE=ChevyMgr;679229]Cooling fan always runs on an SS, just at different speeds. What temp is it going up to at stops?[/QUOTE]

I do not believe my fan runs when it is cold
I have noticed that it seems to run a little hotter when its cooler out and I have the heater on
seems to be common just wondering if you think something

Overheating

Well after five days of tracking parts and opinions, I've found that the module is factory back ordered until Jan. I can get the part as a fan assembly. Are there any opionions on the best place to buy a fan assembly

I've not had to replace ours but I'm pretty sure the autoparts stores (Autozone, O'Reilly's, etc.) have them.

module? What module? I believe the fan is controlled directly from the ECM per the diagram for a 2006 HHR 2.4L:

My fan stopped working and I could not tell you how it got fixed. I checked the fan by applying power directly to the fan motor. It turned. OK, fan ok. Checked the 30 amp fuse. OK. Pulled out the relay and took the cover off. Everything looked ok inside. Connected it with the top off and physically actuated it. Circuit ok. Put it all back together and it worked. IDK, maybe it was a loose connection somewhere along that line.

Kookie. The SS fan(2008-10) has a module built in with the fan motor assembly. It is different than the regular HHR fan motor assembly(no module)
Fwiw. Your relay contacts were most likely in a stuck closed position until you manually activated it. That probably freed it up to continue working. I would replace that relay just to be on the safe side.

Ok yes. Well, that makes sense then Fireman. TY. I won’t be looking for some module then, LoL.

The relay contacts looked really good. I have a set of relay contact files made specifically for refurbishing relays. Didn't even break it out. Looked super sweet.

If it happens again, I will pop a new one in to be on the safe side. It couldn’t be too expensive.
