Additives?

It's easy to become an Amsoil retailer. You just have to buy a lot of product. We have one at our local Cruise Shows.
It seems then, Amsoil must not want to pay the fee to become Dexos approved. It is a Pay to play game. I've heard lots of good about Amsoil, but I'll stick to my M1® E.P. 😎

The wording is interesting: they insinuate it meets the Dexos specs, without being certified as such, by insinuating that if it meets the Peugeot test, that makes it meeting Dexos specs.
"The Peugeot TU3M Wear Test (CEC L-38-A-94), which must be passed to meet the GM* dexos1® Gen 2 specification, determines a motor oil's ability to limit wear. For 100 hours the four-cylinder test engine is subjected to extreme, wear-inducing conditions. AMSOIL OE Motor Oil provided 47 percent more wear protection1 than required by the GM dexos1 Gen 2 specification."

I wonder if you can get Amazon's oil there?

Unfortunately I think the issue for you is being in Hawaii. Everything is expensive due to shipping. I have a friend who lived there for quite a few years. Met his wife there, she's native, but ultimately moved back (with her) to Wisconsin due to the high cost of living.

I stopped buying oil at the auto parts store, too expensive. Even on sale, they require you to buy a filter with it, the filter cost more than they allow for the promotion, so you pay more.
I now go to home depot, much cheaper. The Pennzoil synthetic is about $27 for a 5 quart jug, the castrol is around $22. I just checked your store in Hilo.

I buy Mobil 1 at Walmart in 5 quart jugs. It's branded, so they can't f it up.
When I had the Saabaru, it didn't like M1, and spit a lot out into the PCV system. Pennzoil Platinum didn't have that problem. Both 5W30 in similar high-rev, high-lateral-g autocross use. Tossing it out there just in case anyone has issues with M1, which I think is superior in general, and was the OEM fill for the SS.
I miss autocross. I am working the kid and wife into kid driving, and wife allowing a return. I can set the car up much better now, even if my reflexes aren't what they were 15 years ago.

Yep, Blue SS- I get my M-1 @ WalMart as well, or sometimes @ Tractor Supply. I watch for the good sales. I just check the date code on the bottom or back of the jugs they were filled.
I don't want any very old stock oil.
They have date codes like milk jugs, for anyone who may not know this.
