Upgrading Suspension
Not to be argumentative, but perhaps you should read the Chevrolet Service manual, as I did. There is room for movement in those holes versus the bolts.
The rest of the instructions say to remove the strut and drill the holes.
Oh, maybe using smaller diameter bolts would work, and give some leeway, as the stock ones sure don't. (really people, do not try that..... really, please don't - that would be totally unsafe).




Note the double layer on the connection area, one hole is larger than the other. That is to give a gauge for the drilling.
Note the knurled end of the bolt is not a force fit, but there is very little play. There is more play on the threaded end, but less than a 64th and that's only one side.
The bolt is a force fit on the knurled end into the steering knuckle.
That is a "from the factory" strut and bolt.
