The first drawing that greg8453 posted is the fuel feed line. The HHR does not have a fuel return of any sort, the other 3 drawings show the EVAP vapor purge system.
It would be darn difficult to get fuel out of the intake manifold to return to the tank.
Whoever did the title did not know what they were doing. Notice that the title is the only mention of "return".

A fuel smell and also indicate the EVAP canisters seal is missing or the canister is damaged.

The fuel line will only leak when the ignition is on, and a short while after (until the line is empty). Won't drain the tank.

The manual shows a lot of info about the return line. Not evap but fuel. Is the manual wrong. I don't remember a lot about the specifics of vehicles anymore. I use the manuals.

Your manual is wrong in regards to HHR. Maybe just nomenclature. There are 2 tubes; 1 is fuel the other is part of the EVAP system that burns fuel vapor. Both flow toward the motor.
MitchellOnDemand has no mention of a fuel return.

Charm is wrong. It states under 'fuel system description' The fuel system is a returnless on-demand design.
And further down it has '

Fuel Return Line: Service and Repair

Go figure. I assume they are all the same.

The line with the yellow label is the pressurized fuel line going to the injector log, the other line is the vapour line connecting to the Evap purge valve then to the intake manifold, no connection to the fuel of any kind.

Here’s the other end of that vapour line it connects to the EVAP canister up under the rear axle area of the HHR
