Do you use the defroster or AC when the leak occurs? The AC runs in defrost.
Your local auto parts store will have an aerosol product designed to clean out the drip tray and sometimes it works on the drain. You just spray it into the center AC vents, it foams and kills all of the microbes that cause the clogs. I am guessing the AC output has a musty odor.
