I desired to know why GM would offer to cut/program up to two new keys (according to paperwork received) when the dealer replaces the ignition switch and key cylinder and if my door lock would still use the same key as the ignition and I'm chidded for not thinking to use the term "program existing keys" in the search tool to find the answer? To me it seems the question focused more on the cutting of a key, than the programming of any key. If only you'd have searched; you'd have seen that I did search for the answer.

Oh man - I understood exactly what you were looking for. I found the answer in seconds using the search tool. It's not that complicated.

Oh well, do what you want. And by the way, no you weren't "chidded" - just trying to help you out.

Searching for "recall cut keys" found me the answer in the first search results.

But, you also B****ed about having to wade through 30 pages to find the info.

The reason there are 30 pages is because this is the internet and people will not search for answers they instead want to ask a question and get somebody else to do the searching for the answer. THAT is what whopper was getting at, he was trying to be subtle. Lighten up and read ALL of the words in response to your question.

No "patient" would be the applicable word here, the Mods bend over backwards to keep things on an even keel. When they suggest using the "Search" tool, it's because they know that the easiest route to an answer is by taking 30 seconds to do a quick search.

That being said, sometimes there aren't instant answers to be found in a Search. In the case of this Recall thread, the majority of the useful info can be found on the first page.

I've shut this thread down before when it has taken an unproductive turn, and I'll shut it down again if needed.

As the Moderators know, I've been quite sick the past two weeks, so while I haven't been much in evidence. They have my backing and support in the daily governance of the site.

So please folks, keep things on a mature level, we're all adults here.

So, you try subtlety and someone doesn't get it, then you explain it, then you get a pile of divots dumped on you.

Most of the time subtlety does not work! So, you have to be blunt. Then the sensitive people all get offended, especially the ones that can't be bothered to read ALL of the words in a sentence, just the buzz words.

Oh dear, my ox has been gored (oh, never mind I just read the last 4 words).

I think that was nice.

LOL - I know what you mean man. Unfortunately it is a byproduct of the communication medium in a lot of cases. If you say "have a good day" someone will take it as an insult. All we can do is keep plugging away. :)

Oh, ........ And have a good day!
