Has anybody noticed that GM is so disappointed in the response to the ignition recall that they are now offering $50 (maybe it was $25) gift cards at various retailers to owners to get 'er done. They are claiming less than 40% have had it done.

Sounds like 843de is in for a $300 bonus this year!

I called in to the dealership for the recall in May, I just got a call from them to bring the SS in on Nov. 18. I figured 3-4 months, but 6 months seems like the plant that are piecing these together are working at a snails pace. Must have had some sort of problems along the way to get the parts made.
In over 6 and a half years, I've not had any problems with the ignition at all.

Hey Cokeybill,

We truly do apologize for the parts delay for your recall. But it's good hear the dealership actively reached out to you once they received the necessary parts. Please feel free to reach out if you need any further assistance. We can always be reached via PM!

Sincerely,

Eddie A.

$25 reward for respone to recall

I just got a notice from GM that if I get my ign. swith recall done, they would give me a $25 gift cert. I have been thinking I would not get the switch done on my 2008 panel because I spent about $350 worth of dash decals all over the inside of my panel. The ign switch cylinder in my car has a rosewood panel cover around the cylinder and I am worried that they will damage the rosewood covering and then I will have to buy another $350 kit to repair their work. Has anybody else that didn't get their switch done get a reward notice?

I posted about the reward last week.

Did you cover the gaps in the plastic housing with your rosewood?

This is a new complaint, damage to aftermarket additions.

I got the $25 gift card notice as well and finally took mine in last Friday. They kep it about 3 hours. New keys and ignition switch are definatley tighter. They kept the key that I had when I dropped it off, but I'm keeping the other one since it still works. They told me I would be getting something in the mail to select what gift card I preferred, haven't gotten that yet.

I noticed on the new switch, it's blank. Not marked at all.
