I'll just offer my opinion on Don's comment, since others have......

I think Don's comment was right on. Why does someone feel they need to post, "...I got my letter...." when this thread is dedicated to informing owners that THEY WILL GET A LETTER. Should we expect another 5000-6000 posts for the same?? And then ask questions that are clearly answered, either in the posted article or by another post.

And additionally, his personality gives this forum balance to those that think they need to kiss butt with a white wash attitude/answer for every post of this forum (kind of reminds me of the tab insert the Customer Service Rep's. use".......I'm sorry for the......."). Some people are just plain dumb and you can't fix that.

Now, I do need to say......all my comments are not directly related to this thread.

Thanks Don, for your refreshing attitude.

Bad day on The Market......my rant is over.

I went to the mail box and it was empty, no bills, no letters not even Publishers Clearing House or a creditcard offer, man I feel left out!! Don has the right idea, we don't need to report when or if or whatever about the GM deal. And to obie, I say, Welcome to the site, it will save you time and money on many thing HHR and a lot of that is from Don!!

One thing to keep in mind obie, is that we're all here to help, and if we gently puncture someone's dignity it's not done with malice in mind.

This recall has folks on edge, some enough to fear driving vehicles that up until a few weeks ago, they wouldn't have given a second thought to driving.

We are a family here, and we value every member.

Anyhow, are you taking them up on the loaner, or are you confident enough to wait?

Now things could become really "interesting" with the recall campaign.

Courtesy of The Wall Street Journal (Byline-Jeff Bennett 3/27/2014)

"More legal trouble could be brewing for General Motors and its ignition switch recall after a federal court in Texas agreed to consider a motion that would ultimately force the auto maker to tell customers of the affected vehicles to park their cars until they are fixed.

U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos, based in Corpus Christi, will hear arguments April 4 on the emergency motion request filed by attorney Robert Hilliard. GM intends to present evidence showing the cars are safe to drive.

The "park it" request could greatly expand GM's recall costs. Up until now, the auto maker has offered rental cars only to customers who are concerned about their safety and have directly asked dealers to provide them with another vehicle until the issue is fixed. The auto maker is currently trying to fill more than 10,000 requests for loaner vehicles.

"The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does not have the power to insist that GM notify their customers to park it now," Mr. Hilliard said. "GM refuses to voluntarily do so, even though their recall letter admits even a minor event, such as a rough road, can cause injury or death."

GM recalled 1.6 million older Chevrolet Cobalts and other models in February over faulty ignition switches. Too much weight on or a jarring of the key could cause the switch to slip from the "on" position to the "accessory" position thereby cutting power to the air bags, brakes and steering, according to the company. 12 deaths have been linked to the issue. GM Chief Executive Mary Barra is set to testify in Washington, D.C. next week on why it took nearly a decade to recall the vehicles.

Repairs will be offered to consumers starting April 7. Consumers are advised to take all excess weight off the ignition key.

"We have said publicly that we believe the car is safe to drive based on testing," GM's global customer care chief Alicia Boler-Davis said Thursday. "We don't feel it is necessary to ground all the vehicles that are out there."

Ms. Barra also addressed the issue Wednesday in a series of videos posted on the auto maker's website.

"The simple answer is yes," Ms. Barra said in response to the question on whether the recalled vehicles are still safe to drive. "GM engineers have done extensive analysis to make sure if only you have the key or only the key on a ring, the vehicle is safe to drive. In fact, when they presented this to me, the very first question I asked is would you let your family, your spouse, your children drive these vehicles in this condition and they said yes."

Since there is a delay on the original recall waiting on parts to be made, I wonder how much longer it will take GM to get 800,000 additional replacement parts?

Not really concerned about mine BUT, I will have it replaced eventually. Maybe I'll wait until the first wave of mad hysteria and freaking out has calmed down a bit.
