Don't like those at all...placement looks weird. Glad we didn't get those.

Here is a link to my thread earlier this year with button pics in it..
In this thread, I was lucky enough to get a rental 2008 HHR BEFORE they were on the dealer lots. both only had less than 5 miles when I started the rental.

I removed the horn/airbag replaced the harness and installed the switches in less than 10 min.
The only tricky part was removing the horn which I did with a 6” allen wrench that you slide through the two holes in the rear cover of the steering wheel.

Easy mod, love the mute button.
Ok, question.
I have a 2003 Avalanche that I am going to replace with a new HHR SS that is on order. I have a Pioneer AVIC D3 head unit with chevy factory steering wheel controls that are reporgrammed to control the AVID D3. Does the HHR have a similar device?

I am sure it does, but that would be a question that does not belong in this thread. Try posting your question in the audio section instead.

Alright, I have verified that the 15234343 is still the correct harness, even though GM's own internal parts help line says it isn't. Now I will be ordering the buttons and cover. I will post up part numbers and a pic or two when I start putting things together.

Hello Kawtipping,
I hope you have better luck getting your 07 cover than I did. After 5 months with the dealership parts department and GM customer complaint hotline. I finally got mine when they ordered the entire streeting wheel and removed the radio bezel. I got a free set of buttons because they didnt want to seperate it and possibly braking it. My cover was silver..and I think GM still dosnt know the correct part number ???
But again this bezel was new for 07 and I see other 08 models are using the same bezel such as the Vett and the Malibu.

2008 Malibu

Well, I will know sometime next week. I talked to my dealer today to see if they came in. Unfortunately they were not in the local PDC (think warehouse). I should have them by mid next week though. Once I get all the parts, I will gladly put up the part numbers for everyone else.

Got mine fitted today. Since I had to pull the pins out of the connector to rearrange them for the early build I apparently have, I could feed them through the gap behind the wheel frame, and into the clips on the rear cover, then reinsert them into the connector body, but I found that the leg that goes to the radio controls side was too short to fit comfortably that way, so I rerouted it over the frame.
All worked well aftewards.

Alright, I have my parts...but don't have them installed yet. Part numbers (and pictures) are as follows.

Switch : 15942446 [IMG][/IMG]
Cover : 15234337 [IMG][/IMG]

Apparently I can not just upload a picture, so you all don't get them. The cover is a darker silver type color (which is why a picture would have been so much better).
