For sure Mike...I will take a shot tomorrow after I get home from work. Then I will be working away tomorrow night and on Sunday to see how much damage I can do :)

Okay this isn't really progress as much as it is just for me to get a feel for what direction I want to go before committing to permanent changes. Using hilbilly photoshop (Gorilla tape and painted cardboard), I am trying to get a rough idea of how this would look with the B and C pillars blacked out and the rear door handles shaved. Also before actually trying to fabricate stainless trim for the beltline, I stuck some 3/4 inch sticky back molding on for a visual. Opinions positive and negative are much appreciated.

On the pillar treatment and chrome beltline molding, very nice!

But I'm not exactly feeling the shaved door handles in the rear. My two cents worth, skip the plating, welding, and solenoid door poppers....and embrace the rear doors.

You may now commence throwing things at me Ben.

Hmmm.... The jury is definitely still out on the door handles. Although I had no intention of putting solenoid poppers in. planned on just reaching inside a pulling the inside handles. I tried it and it's easy as pie. I am considering losing the vent visor and making the roof rails extend further down which would nice it a chopped top look. If I did that, I think I would lose the roof curve as well. The beauty of the tape is that I can try it and get a better visual without full commitment.

The wheels had bumps or notchs and you just tapped them on by hand or rubber mallet. Yes beauty rings were available and full versions were available too.

Any one know if I am thinking correctly? Also, aren't those like over $100 each?

Hells yeah, love this thread, such creativity and great craftsmanship. Something about the 50's buick, just can't get enough of. Cant believe the first time I see this thread, I just happen to be uploading pics of the new project... a 1953 Buick Super 8 Here's a couple pics of my ride and the '53

I'd have to agree with 843de on the door handles. Although, I have always leaned away from the panel look, so I am quite biased.
