AC Draining onto passenger floor/carpet

It is the fan speed control module AKA resistor pack. I don't know why it has a gasket, I'm guessing they want it in the airflow for cooling, otherwise no need to worry about it hanging

Excellent! This is good to know. I was thinking it might have been some sensor to measure the presence of water in the air flow vents or something like that. It seems to be just fine and doesn't fall out when I replace the molded carpet piece up there, and I'm thinking just to put better plastic screws like the type that pop into a sleeve, rather than the cheap trim buttons they use now. With that combination, I think it will be more than secure for what it is. All of your info has been extremely helpful in this journey so far!
