Fred, if I read post 23 correctly, he is saying that the valve is not in the filter, rather in the block. If you continue to see this, you may want to have the dealer look at the valve in the block.

There is no anti-drainback or "check" valve in the oil filter that's in an Ecotec. In fact, the oil drains out of the filter cavity fairly quickly after shutdown. The filter media holds some oil but the rest of it drains back into the oil pan.

Anybody know what the normal oil press is on these motors? Wish they would have gaged it for oil..raher have that then 2 water temps..........

agreed. kinda redundant to have the digital and dash gauge. A oil pressure reading would be far more helpful...
