Surprisingly yes. I tried another set of modules from another car from a different junk yard first, and the odometer read the mileage from the other car. It had too many miss-matches though (plus it was a re-build) so I returner it and went down the street and picked up a 3rd set. This time it showed the mileage of my daughters car. Or did it? because it changed buy several hundred miles a short time later, before I did the VATS delete. Were the two cars within a few hundred miles of each other and it updated from the cluster or something? Chances of that seem slim but who knows?

 

The way I thought it works is "not work" until the VINs match. Maybe it's because the ECM and BCM match.
I was under the impression that the tune software could do the VIN.

 

It could - but I chose to leave it alone. That was the whole Idea behind getting a matched set. The ECM is most likely just fine and can be re-used if needed someday, but for $17.99?
