OK, you seem to know more about it than me. Just ignore anything we have to say.
Use logic; why would iINT or EXH TDC make a bit of difference if the the marks are lined up? Why care?

If the marks on the crank and cam sprockets are oriented as directed, and the chain is installed with the marks located as directed, the chain is correctly installed.

The compression TDC instruction is relevant only in that it gets the cams and crank oriented per the diagram.

To more directly address your question, "Do I reinstall the old parts and rotate to the exhaust compression stroke or does this really matter which TDC the engine is at?",

It seems you've saying your cam sprockets are oriented 180 degrees out of phase with the diagram. Is that correct?

If you haven't moved the cams or crank, I suppose you could reinstall everything, but it shouldn't be necessary. If you attempted to rotate just the cams, at least some of them would hit the pistons are some point. Instead, you should be able to gently rotate them a bit at a time, more or less in unison, keeping in mind that the crank goes at 2X the rate of the cams, rotate the cams 180 degrees and the crank 360. Clockwise. Be gentle and on guard for any sign of valve interference. You do have ALL the sparkplugs out, right?
